BALLATER DIAMOND JUBILEE CAIRN 2012

**********

Picture

This is a pictorial record of how the idea of the Ballater Diamond Jubilee Cairn came to fruition in 2012.

The idyllic 'Royal Warrant' village of Ballater nestles within the Cairngorms National Park alongside the  River Dee, famous for its salmon fishing, in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK.

The village has a long association with Britain's Royal Family since the mid 1800's when Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort, Albert, purchased Balmoral Castle some 8 miles from Ballater.
The village is extremely proud of its unofficial title of 'Royal Warrant Village' due to many of the shops displaying the coveted Royal Warrant insignia above their premises.

Over the next few pages our story will unfold with a pictorial record of events as they happened.
